"Turns out, Ferris wasn’t lying. And not only was he actually too sick to go to school, he was terminally ill with only days left to his life. So, he went out with his best friend and his girlfriend and had as much fun as he could before he died. Meanwhile, his whole community attempted to cure him with the Save Ferris collection campaign. Does the film have a tearjerker of an ending with Ferris in his last moments? Probably not, because Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is not another depressing movie about dying; it’s a positive movie about living life to the fullest. Man, how shitty would Rooney be feeling now if it turned out Ferris was indeed really, really sick? After watching this recut trailer, I’m wondering if you can actually watch the whole movie as is with the idea that Ferris is secretly terminal. "The third part in Universal’s rebooted Mummy franchise takes the series in a new direction. Rather than set in Egypt and dealing again with the same old villain, Imhotep, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor brings us to China and gives us a different sort of preserved corpse baddie. And it looks like the change could actually add some freshness to the franchise. Of course, history would hint that such a move for the Mummy movies is a bad idea. While it seems beneficial in theory to redirect the focus of a series with the third installment, especially if the first sequel was too much a repetition of the original (a la The Mummy Returns), in practice many threequels mistakenly alter things for the worse. "I'm with you CinemaRian,but it just seems like innocent fun or something..FB's DO has been on T.V loadsa times but i only saw it all the way through today,and laughed quite a bit. I knew a Ferrari was involved,a very pretty boy and girl..a tortured "authority" figure,the school principal..er,that's it . Maybe it's notable for "breaking the fourth wall"but doesnt add up to much apart from looking so shiny and fun and the opposite of "world weary",i laughed AT it aswell as with...they visit an ART gallery for cryin out loud!....It's the antithesis of everything that would pass for a "high school" comedy now ...like Rushmore (1998) or the wonderful "Ghostworld" or "Napoleon Dynamite"...and i couldnt help wondering all those idle thoughts like. Why didnt Mia Sara make more films,how come the only other thing i can remember seeing Alan Ruck in is "Speed" Why oh why did Jennifer Grey get a nose job!?...and how Matthew Broderick looks so cute,a lot like Ellen "Juno" Page... "Who among us hasn’t wanted to skip a day of school or work? Ok…it’s probably safe to say that at some point most of us have actually played hooky. But nobody has ever done it with quite as much panache as Ferris Bueller. "

"Ah romance. Every good video watcher is acutely aware of the down-on-love, romantic teenage flicks that played out with so many star-struck Romeos and Juliets in the idealistic 80’s. We cheered for our plucky, beautiful, yet misunderstood Andie Walshes, Diane Courts, and Wattes in the face of so much love adversity, whether what they lacked was money, an understanding father, or girl’s underwear, and rested easy at the end when they got their men. But should we have? For every one of these “ideal” movie boyfriends, sure signs of loser-dom each display. Here’s just a few reasons why you should’ve run for the hills ladies! "Heres another movie that almost everyone has seen that I have finally gotten around to. Not to repeat myself, but I honestly dont see why this is so popular. I can certainly see people enjoying it, but how it has survived twenty years to now be remembered as a classic is beyond me. Its certainly better than John Hughes usual 80s youth films, though, and has some funny moments. You probably know the story, but in brief, Ferris Bueller (Mathew Broderick) is a high school senior in a Chicago suburb who plays hooky for a day with his best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck) and his girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara). They are pursued by Vice Principal Rooney (Jeffery Jones), who suspects that something is up, and threatened by Ferriss sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey) who is tired of playing second fiddle to Ferris all the time. Any film that becomes a classic with the public has to on some level tap into some kind of basic social condition, but I cant figure out for the life of me what it is with this m ... "

"I haven't met a single person who doesn't at least midly appreciate this comic gem. Matthew Broderick is congenial as hell, Alan Ruck is dryly hilarious and Jeffrey Jones is a genius. So many quotable lines in this film, it's impossible to even scratch the surface. One of the 80's best films, if not one of the best comedies of all time. "
