Although
Valeska Suratt had been a vamp before the rise of
Theda Bara (she was actually considered for Bara's starring bow,
A Fool There Was), she wound up as merely a second string vamp at Fox, the same studio that employed Bara. Here Suratt plays the wicked Vivian Courtney, who changes her name to the spicier Cherry Millard. She gets one man, known only as the Stranger (
Curtis Benton), tossed in jail, and then heads out West where she becomes involved with Burt Hall (Robert Clugston). She entices him into helping her squeeze money out of Derrick McClade (Clifford Bruce), who is due to inherit a large estate. But McClade discovers the truth about her before she can get him to the altar.
