I'm a DIE HARD geek. Original is a classic, 2 was very good, 3 mostly good... 4 is PG-13. WHAT?! There aren't many times when you'll hear me complaining about how movies need to be more violent and have more f-bombs and blood splatters. But what the frack? McClane doesn't even light a marlboro because modern day behavior nazis consider that R-rated.
LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD is mostly a DIE HARD sequel. It's a straight forward action movie where the action makes sense. Good guy runs from right to left. Bad guy chases from right to left. John McClane spins around and smashes bad guy's face in with an automobile.
I was just as afraid as the rest of the U.S. population when I heard this wasn't going to be DIE HARD on a boat, or DIE HARD at the school cafeteria, or DIE HARD on Elm Street. This was going to be DIE HARD at the computer lab. But you know what? It worked. Computers are linked to everything, and as other reviewers have pointed out -- Hans Grueber had farging hackers in his goon squad, so it fits within the DIE HARD mythos.
I'm done. Go see this flippin movie.
