The X-Files: Schizogeny (1998)

I'm re-watching X-Files, and I'm 1/3 through Season 5. This is the single worst episode up to that point. Scully - the sceptic, right? Not here. She's willing to accept the following conclusions:

- Some orchard grower years ago was mean to the trees. He died. Since the trees hated him, their roots pulled his body from the grave and dragged it miles to his now grown daughter's house.

- That same daughter is possessed by dead spirits and somehow able to help the tree roots choose their targets.

I can't write anymore. I'm wasting my time... again.

The X-Files: The Post-Modern Prometheus (1997)

Excellent stand-alone episode. Comedy, X-Files style. Look, you've got a dude that's a cross between Frankenstein and Mask, a soundtrack by Cher, and a black & white comic book feel throughout.

The X-Files: Redux II (1997)

Conclusion of the 3-parter. Sweeeeet! I forget how good TV used to be on Sunday nights. Scully's cancer has her near death, Mulder is scurrying around desperate for answers to "who in the government wants us dead" and Smoking Man claims to have the cure for Scully's cancer. If he wants it, Mulder has to work for the Smoking Man.

The X-Files: Redux (1997)

Up to your eyeballs in the government conspiracy plot thread. Is Skinner a bad guy? We know Mulder wasn't really killed last season, but why is Scully acting as if he's dead? Loved it, loved it, loved it.

I miss the days when TV shows periodically ended with "To Be Continued..." You know the next episode is a must-see.

Sabata (1969)

This probably isn't a western for movie goers not prone to westerns. But for the rest of us enlightened ones - Sabata is a fun flick. I should warn you to take some motion sickness pills to handle the extreme zooms and pans.

We all know Lee Van Cleef is badass. Capable of shooting anything or anyone at any distance with any firearm. But William Berger? He's a show stopper. I didn't recognize him from another western, but a Google Image search links him to last century's classic The Two Vampire Orhpans - a European Trash Cinema release. I can't tell you how he measures up in that feature since they use the metric system and I'm not so good at conversions.
