Oh Canada, it's a Strange Brew indeed.
I must admit I miss those hoser McKenzie brothers and their beer can roulette. The comedy of this movie hits to the heart of many a Canadian youth ... beer, hockey, what the combination of the two can give you. The comedic effects of this movie are true to its day, a day that lived on the edge of potty humor but never fell into the toilet. It is the only film that I have seen where a human waste product helps save the day. The movie does have its inconsistencies, like when the van goes off the end of the dock, the roof vent is gone, but when the scene shifts to the bottom of the lake, the vent is back on. By today's standards, the movie is second rate, but when I first saw it in the theatre, I laughed so hard that I figured the Moranis & Thomas were going to be the new Martin & Lewis or Rowan & Martin. I went out and bought McKenzie Brothers figures. I still love their humor and am waiting for the day that SCTV reruns are picked up on a cable channel.
