Good, campy fun

Under discussion:

A Sheik (Ricardo Montalbon) has ordered his only son (Jamie Farr) with a driver's license to go to America to put on the illegal cross-country street car race with a a purse of $1-million financed by the Sheik.

Many of the misfit racers return from the first movie, in addition with some new faces.

The cast is wonderful, and their comedic timing is just as good. None seem to lose their timing delivering punchlines, some of which are really corny, but funny.

Much of the time, the cast are in their individual cars. The movie is edited very nicely giving each member of the cast a fair amount of on-screen time each. And none miss a beat in the comedy, especially the teams of Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise, and the late Sammy Davis Jr. and the late Dean Martin.

There are a few surprise cameos that, for the most part, advance the story pretty well. The biggest name of those cameos joins the race near the end of the movie.

Although there are many scenes where you laugh out loud, the best has to be the blooper reel shown as the credits roll at the end of the movie. If you think Reynolds and DeLuise are funny in the film, wait until you see the outtakes.

Overall, this movie is one of the funniest movies you can rent on video/DVD or see on HBO. I recommend it, especially if you like a campy, comedic motion picture.
