    Reno 911!: Miami  (2007)

The cast of the hit comedy TV show makes it to the big screen in their first movie set in Miami. The plot quite frankly doesn't make sense and those fans of the show realize this and don't fault it too much for it. If you can get past this and just enjoying watching the absurd scenes with the Reno Police force attempting to carry out their duties, you'll like this film a lot. The characters, such as Lt. Jim Dangle, continue to please and show us how he can continue to carry on no matter how many screw-ups he makes. The comedy is mainly in the interactions between the force and the people of the city of Miami. The music is forgettable. The cameo appearances are great however. All in all, if you're up for some stupid and crazy comedy skits strung together loosely by what tries to appear as a plot, this is just the movie for you.

    Sunshine  (2007)

An intense sci-fi film that isn't restricted by its genre, Sunshine proves to be a very satisfying film that delves into humanity and its conflicts, passions, and dreams. By adding a slice of horror and fantasy into the mix, Sunshine definitely breaks out of the mold. The story is a great one, and the actors play their roles perfectly within it. With varying combinations of emotions and attributes, such as desperation, dedication, and selflessness, the characters seem very believable and intriguing to viewers. This and the plot, which revolves around the mission the characters undertake: to rejuvenate the dying sun to save Earth, keep the audience wondering what will happen next. In addition, the stunning special effects really add to the movie with exciting shots that leave the audience in awe. The screenplay and cinematography are top notch too. All in all, a truly excellent movie that should have garnered much more attention and acclaim than it did.

    Juno  (2007)

A quirky, yet powerful comedy about dealing with a difficult situation, Juno is a masterpiece of a film that has a big heart and great acting. Ellen Page gives a stand-up performance and leads a splendid cast. As a whole, they make the movie so believable and so endearing. The superb ending of Juno really ties up this movie and cements it as one of the truly exceptional films of the year.

    Reign Over Me  (2007)

It takes a remarkable movie to do even a portion of the things that Reign Over Me does so well. This movie accomplishes so much on so many levels. It's a great film about tragic loss and the glory of and hard times found in friendship.

The acting is top notch with Don Cheadle,
another favorite of mine, excellently playing one of the leads. He absolutely takes over his role in every aspect, especially with his characteristic highly expressive facial expressions. Adam Sandler further shows he can act in dramas by taking on the other lead role well. The two make for a great, if slightly strange, pair of friends. Them scootering around the city is classic. Giving the actors plenty of chances to stand out, the plot really enables them. The funny scenes along with the sad, tragic ones really make this film. The soundtrack is very well done. The way the film is shot is pleasing to the eye, and it gives the film a mood that is remarkable in many aspects. The lonely city lights, the close up shots of the actors' faces, and the way the emotion is caught on camera is amazing.

Accordingly, Reign Over Me is an exceptionally well made movie that succeeds in so many areas. Definitely check it out.
