This is a love story starring real life country singer, George Strait, as a popular fictional country singer named Dusty. Aside from his fame, Dusty gets tired of all the glitz and glamour. He escapes from his demanding manager and fanbase to secretly return to his hometown out in the countryside.
Ultimately, Pure Country tells a story of a man who accomplishes music stardom, but reaches back into the roots of his past to realign himself with what's important. In the process, he finds love. Strait's acting isn't oscar worthy of course, but it's decent for someone who isn't a professional actor. The concept of the story line is one that I think most people -- whatever background they come from -- can relate to. It's a very down-to-earth type of movie because it seems to showcase the simplicities of life vs. getting lost in it all.
