    The Island  (2005)

Ok, so I am not going to lie.  The trailer looked ok, but the reviews were not stellar.  But I will give you two words on why it eventually ended up in my queue on Netflix,  Scarlett Johansson.  I admit it, I'm a man, I might watch a movie because it has a beautiful woman in it.  But women do it too, they will watch a movie just because it has Reese Witherspoon in it.  Or Vin Diesel.  So don't hold it against me.  Any way back to the island.

I was delightfully surprised.  I really, really liked it.  Like I have said before in my post about Crash.  The music really makes a movie and it draws you in.  The score for this was perfect.  And the plot worked really well.  Chalk another one up for Michael Bay.  And in this one the action didn't really seem over the top like some of his other movies.

So I don't really know if we will be growing humans and harvesting them for body parts as part of our insurance policies in 13 years, but it was still a great movie.  And of course Scarlett didn't hurt the cause in the least.

Overall I suggest the movie to anyone who likes some action and a little Johansson.  But remember, if you win a trip to the island, run.

Now that Spout is up and flowing... Get it?  I thought I would expound on my thoughts for this group.  Personally, I find that most of the best comedies come from the Saturday Night Live Alums, of course it can also be said that some of the worst ones also come from there, but thats a whole different group. Anyway, maybe I just have a soft spot for potty humor, and dumb jokes, but I love the classics.  What is everyone's favorite movie that contains a Saturday Night Live cast member in at least a supporting role?  My top five is as follows, and subject to change as I remember others...

    1. Billy Madison

    2. Tommy Boy

    3. Old School

    4. Anchorman

    5. Happy Gilmore

I guess its pretty easy to see what cast members I grew up watching...

I just watched Crash this weekend.  I thought it was one of the best movies I have ever seen.  I loved how all the lives were interwoven together and how it showed that peoples actions affect everyone else around them.  It was great.  I also think the musical score is really what helped it be such a great movie.  Anybody agree or disagree?
