    El Cantante  (2006)

Ok, so I will admit that JLo has done some pretty bad films in the past, and I have seen almost all of them. But this one is finally right up her alley. Not only is she in it with her husband but her production company produced the film. The simple fact that she is that passionate about this film makes me want to see it. When she did Salina you could see the passion she had for it and this is the same type of film. And lets not forget about Marc...After watching the trailer and seeing her on the Today show this morning, I have no doubt that he has just as much enthusiasm about this project as Jennifer has.
I will be seeing this one in the theaters!

    Casino Royale  (2006)

Ok, so I had high hopes for this one.
I like Daniel Craig, but honestly, I was just not impressed with this one.
I will say that the first scene was was possibly the best chase sequence I have ever seen in an action film.
But other than that, in my opinion, the film lacked what other Bond films boast.
I feel like he kind of "wimped out" and showed little to be desired by true Bond fans.  Some people say it makes him seem more human, but to me he seems a little dull.
All in all it was an ok movie, I stayed awake and was entertained.

All in all, I liked this movie but I had a reallly hard time understanding who the players were in her life. I found myself asking if there were relevant to the story or just fillers?
For the most part I understood the relationship with her and her father and why she was on this self-destructive path that she was on. But I really thought that movie needed a little more spice or something to move it along and keep it interesting. And how the heck did she get the juke box in that office???

    Saw III  (2006)

We ended the weekend with a little bit of gore. Ok, I usually like a good horror flick. I love gory movies and I really did like the original Saw. But this is getting a little ridiculous. Jigsaw is becoming reminiscent of Freddy and Jason. There was at least a plot in this one(if you can call it a plot), where there really didn't seem to be a plot in the previous Saw movies. If you are a gore lover this movie is for you. It has creative traps and enough blood last me a long time.

This is not one of those horror flicks that will keep me up at night like The Grudge or The Ring (I am shuddering just thinking about that).  It was what it was, a gore filled, creative thinking, Sunday afternoon horror flick.

    The Illusionist  (2006)

This was so worth the wait! I can't tell you how impressed I am by this film. there was a story line, a plot, and it captivated me completely. What is it about Edward Norton that draws me into his characters? Much like Primal Fear, I was sucked in to who this person was and what made him tick. his love for Sophie in this whole film was undeniably strong. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for her. And while the ending was a bit predictable, I did not mind it at all. I was just anxious to see how he would pull it off and make Paul Giamatti sweat once again. Who by the way was amazing. Idon't think he could have played that role any better. His character made me want to hate him and give him a high five at the same time. I am looking forward to purchasing this movie. It is one that I will watch again and again with renewed interest.

    The Guardian  (2006)

Next stop on the movie marathon train: The Guardian.
If you liked Top Gun and A Perfect Storm, you will love this movie.
I will admit there were times when I expected Ashton Kutcher to start singing "You've lost that love and feelin' ". It was pretty good in the suspense department and the ending made me want to cry. I now know that I will never want to go to Ace School in the Coast Guard, but now have a new found appreciation for a part of the military I really didn't know much about to begin with. Ashton of course played the cocky young student with a troubled past and Kevin Costner (who in my opinion has not made a decent film since Dragonfly) played the guy that not only teaches the cocky young student a lesson but learns a lesson from him as well. I won't spoil the ending so I will stop here.

    The Last Kiss  (2006)

We went from World Trade Center to The Last Kiss, one depressing movie after another. I have to admit I love movies with these types of story lines... on lifetime television. I feel like I am seeing the same movies over and over again with the same plot. What is it about Zach Braff films that bum me out so much. I felt the same way in Garden State. Maybe its that he shows little to no emotion. He doesn't ever seem to smile. Its always this long sad drawn out look on his face.
It may be a while before I can watch another one of his films and maybe even longer before I can appreciate him as an actor.

We decided that since we were going to be snowed in, we may as well make use of the day by watching as many movies as we could without going crazy.
So we started off with World Trade Center.
I honestly had high hopes for this one. But I was soooooo dissapointed. It was way too dark, way to depressing and yet while I appreciate everything that the firefighters and police did for us and everyone that day, I really did not see the need to make a movie out of this particular story. I felt like it was a waste of time to make this movie and a waste of my time to watch it. Maybe it was too early to see it.

    The Chumscrubber  (2005)

I watched this movie on Saturday night. This is one of those flicks that you either love it or hate it. It's basically all about upper class society, drugs, teenagers and the denial their parents live in (remember the part in Traffic where the kids from the upper class families are spending all their money on drugs? Its like that, but better) Oh and there is a kidnapping, but I won't spoil it for anyone. Glenn Close did a great job in this movie too. There are certain times when I do not like her(fatal attraction), but she was so Stepford in this movie, I couldn't help but think those are the types of roles she should play more often. I got really sucked into it. I think the next time I watch it I will like it even more. Normally I will work on my wedding photography or knit while watching movies, but with this one I found myself so involved in these kids lives that I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Overall Rating: 4 Stars (Although the next time I watch it, I may have to change that to 5 stars)

    The Lake House  (2006)

What a wonderfuly weird, crazy, lovely, amazingly well done movie. I didn't expect much from this going into it, but I am just so pleasantly suprised by how much I liked it. I am left wondering, if you give time a chance, will it bring you the person you were meant to spend the rest of your life with? Realizing that there is no way that this situation could ever be possible, I think that the real story behind it is that if you love someone, in time fate will bring you together, again. Overall Score: 5 Stars (i.e. I will be adding this to my DVD collection)

    200 Cigarettes  (1999)

Yuck, I feel like I need to take a shower now. How is this movie supposed to be funny? I feel like I have been in an ashtray for last 90 minutes. This was recomended to me by a friend of mine. I am going to have to tell her that she needs to listen to me a little better when I talk about the films I like. I was really hoping to find something funny in this, but I was truly dissapointed :( Overall Score: 1 Star

Wow, I am not really sure what to say about this flick. I want to be happy for him that he found the right path to take in life and he got the patch, but at the same time I wanted to hate him for what he was doing to his son and yet, was he really doing anything wrong with his son? Was he right in saying you can make your own choices and if he chooses to smoke then he will buy him a pack of cigarettes? Should we think of him as a bad person because he want's people to make their own choices? And yet his job is to influence people to smoke. I am going to have to put some more thought into this one. I want to write something insightful about it but the words are not coming out right now the way I want them to. I would love to hear from other people who have seen this? How did you feel about him in the end? Overall Score: 3 Stars

Well this was a weird movie. Basically the premise of the movie was about sex and relationships.. well what comedy/romance movie isn't right? I have to say that I liked it but it wasn't enough to keep my attention. It was in an "interview"style film about several sets of couples in all stages of relationships talking about sex and love. I love Edward Burns and I thought he played a really great character. I don't really have much to say about this one other than if you are bored and its on cable, it is an entertaining 90 minutes. Not funny, not sad, not profoundly insightful, just entertaining. Although I did think it was interesting to see the relationships between each of the couples grow and change in the different stages of their lives..like you could almost see the moment on their faces where they realized this was a huge mistake and they seem to grow up just a little bit in that instance and it forever changed who they were as a person. Or in one guys case, not changing at all and falling completely downhill.. Overall Score: 3 Stars

    The Break-Up  (2006)

Ok, so to kick off my movie marathon weekend I thought would start with The Break Up. Not bad over all. I will probably buy it since it is one of those movies you could watch over and over and not be bored(that and I love Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn). It was funny in all the right spots, yet bitterly sad in all the right spots. As someone who has just recently been in this situation I could totally relate to all the experiences Brooke was going through. I felt an emotional connection with both the characters. This is one of those movies that really puts you in their shoes because is was so realistic. I mean there are so many couples out there that are going through this same thing. In my opinion, this should be in the hands of every couple who is going through a break up like this (along with all the break up music we all listen to, girls you know what I am talking about) who needs a good laugh and needs to feel like they are not the only ones who go through this in life. Thats all for now.. stay tuned :) Overall score: 4 stars

Hey everyone! This next weekend is very rare for me, I do not have anything planned, nor do I want to plan anything. I was thinking it would be nice to catch up on some of the movies that I haven't seen and I am open to suggestions on what you think I should watch. Maybe something obscure, maybe something off the wall that you think no one has heard of, maybe its a really old film that is hard to find.. So far on my list is: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas The House of Yes The Break-Up I am curious to hear what you would watch if you had a no-plans/all movie weekend ahead of you? :)
