    Grindhouse  (2007)

I want to say that I love Tarantino he is my favorite writer/ directer of all time and I think the one problem he has is he works with Robert Rodriguez. Don't get me wrong, I like most of his stuff, but there is no way he is even on the same level as tarantino. Tarantino needs to get smart in dump the dead weight. Having said that, I loved grindhouse. I thought Death Proof was brilliant, and Planet Terror was pretty good, but the whole atmosphere of grindhouse was such an origional experiance for me. And to finish I quote Kurt Russel "You saw my car, I saw your legs. Now Im not stocking you ladies, but I didn't say I wasn't a wolf." Thats Tarantino.

    The Departed  (2006)

The Departed may well have one of the best casts in movie history, and every one of them brings their game. Jack Nicholson is one of the greatest character actors of all time, and ofr thier generation, Damon and DiCaprio are about as good as it gets. Marty sheen and Mark Wahlberg are also great here. The star of this movie, however, is Scorsese. He is undoubtably on of the 3 greatest filmmakers of all time, and thist film marks his return to greatness. The reason this film isn't one of the greatest of all time is the script. Te story is exalent and so are the characters. The problem is the dialoge. Every other line in this movie is some brilliant quote dripping with unrealisticality. Everything that comes out of Nicholsons mouth is so well thought out that it actually comes off as very unreal and very condecending. The script screams "I'm Will Monyhan! Look how smart i am!!!!"

  • Fincher+Norton= dark twisted masterpeice

    Fight Club  (1999)

It pisses me off when people say " Oh you mean that Brad Pitt movie!" when I try to tell them about the wonder that is fight club. The true star of this movie is Fincher, because he manages to do what hasn't been done since A clockwork Orange. That is, combining offbeat gore and humor whih a real firm message about society. Besides all that, obviously Brad Pitt is great. And I want to talk for a minute about Eddie Norton. He is one of my 3 favorite actors of all time. I think when you talk about the 40's and the 50's films you can't help talk about Jimmy Stewart, and when you think about the films of the 70's through to 1990, you have to talk about Bobby Deniro. From the mid 90's to now the best actor around has been Eddie Norton. If anyone wants to argue that Norton is not the greatest actor of our time, send me a message and I'll change your mind.

  • Aclassic Kubrick

As Malcom McDowell said "This movie is all about the right to choose. It's as simple as that. The right to choose, how we live our lives." I personally think this is Kubrick's best film. It is as darkly funny as a movie can be, without going over the top. It is that perfect balence that directers like himself, and David Fincher find that make these truly great films. I think a film like natural born killers tries to push this line between funny and sickly odd, and fail miserably. Although any story written by the all powerful film god, and movie nerd, Quentin Tarantino can't be all bad.

  • Fincher can do no wrong(Except thea Jodie Foster mess)

    Zodiac  (2007)

Once agian David Fincher gives us a Masterful look at a dark and funny world. His films combine a  twisted humer with dark brutal violence. Fight club may be Finchers masterpeice but this film, is right up there with it. The casting is perfect, and the wardrobe is spot on. The photography is brilliant. This film works on somany levals. It works as a police procedural, a character and a period peice. Thank god for David Fincher

    The Big Lebowski  (1997)

Hands down the funniest film the coens have ever made. Every elament of this film is halarious! John Goodman gives a brilliant performance, as does everyone else involved. Jeff Bridges creates one of the most interesting characters this side of Phillup Hoffman in Capote. The humor is smart, well thought out and well exacuted. This is a great Film!

    Blood Simple  (1984)

I think its awsome that right now the coen brothers work is book-ended by two great films set in texas. You can obviously the improvements the coens have made in tthe last 20 years, but Blood Simple is a more authenticly Coen film. Put that on top of the great performances, and youve got a damn good film!

    The Lookout  (2007)

This is not the perfect film but in everything it tries to be, it succeeds! It is a masterpeice from long time screen writer and first time directer Scott Frank. I loved every performance in this film and I hope next time Scott will take even more chances

Silence. This film is all about silence. There is no soundtrack and the silence is a character in the film. Having said that I now want to say this movie works as much as any film since Fargo. The performances are absalutly brilliant! Every performance is perfect. Josh Brolin is perfectly cast and Tommy Lee Jones is doing here, what he does best. This material is absalutley perfect for him. Although these two are great, Javier Bardem owns this mivie. He is mabe the most menacing and interesting villan in movie history. His performance is amazing. I could sit here and type about him forever, unfortunatly, I don't have that kind of time.

    Fargo  (1996)

Fargo is a perfect movie. Every scene, no, every line in this film moves the story forward. The casting is perferct but the real star here is the Coens brilliant screenplay. I'm told that there was little to no improvising on this film. I am also told that the script was so damn good, there was no desire to improvies on the part of the actors. Besides all this, I just want to call attention to Steve Buscemi. How great is he. He is funny, menicing, weird, and fits in so well with the Coens scripts. I just think he is one of the most underated actor of all time.
