It's no Iron Man, but it still holds up as a tasty piece of the Avengers pie.</p> <p>I think that it is incredible that a movie studio is taking a long-term view with the Avengers series. Sure, they could screw it all up with one bad movie, but so far, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk illustrate some "integrity" and dedication to doing it right.</p> <p>I also have to add [cameo spoiler alert]....that I really loved it that they gave Lou Ferrigno a cameo roll. I just about lost it in the theater when I saw him. And in another reference to the TV series, it was great how they put a spin on Bill Bixby's well known line, "Please don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."</p>Mixing history with fictionhttp://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/archive/2008/6/11/31140.aspxThu, 12 Jun 2008 03:14:46 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:31140robvs0http://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/comments/31140.aspxhttp://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/commentrss.aspx?PostID=31140<p>Overall, I enjoyed Sea Monsters, and so did my 2.5 yr old daughter. It was especially fun watching her reach out to try and touch the 3D imagery. That being said, I didn't like how the movie intermixed the historical information with a fictional "this is what might have happened" story - there was no clear separation of where the scientific findings ended and the fiction began. Additionally, the&nbsp;recreated&nbsp;"current day" scenes of the&nbsp;paleontologists&nbsp;digging in the sand were poorly acted and poorly written.</p>Seemed a bit boring to mehttp://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/archive/2008/5/14/29077.aspxWed, 14 May 2008 04:31:48 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:29077robvs0http://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/comments/29077.aspxhttp://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/commentrss.aspx?PostID=29077<p>This was the first time that I've seen Mr. Bean outside of TV adds. The movie had a few funny and entertaining scenes, but my 2.5 yr old daughter and I both lost interest pretty quickly.</p>Yah, I liked it...http://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/archive/2008/5/14/29075.aspxWed, 14 May 2008 04:25:23 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:29075robvs0http://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/comments/29075.aspxhttp://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/commentrss.aspx?PostID=29075<p>Iron man is fun as fracking hell. Jackson shows up wielding a &quot;wand&quot; style weapon. It was then that it occurred to me that Hayden and Samuel have worked together before.</div><div><br /></div><div>Over all, I thought that Jumper was a really fun movie. It kept my attention the whole time. It didn&#39;t get into long, detailed explanations of how &quot;jumping&quot; worked. It didn&#39;t bore me with an hour of Hayden&#39;s character learning and fine-tuning his new skills. I thought that the story progressed at a nice pace. I wouldn&#39;t describe <span style="font-style: italic" class="Apple-style-span">Jumper</span> as a great film, but it also did not feel like standard Hollywood formula.</div><div><br /></div><div>For those that saw this movie as another Hollywood indictment against Christianity, I guess that just don&#39;t see much of a connection. Sure, Samuel L. Jackson&#39;s character is a religious fanatic, but religious fanatics come in all flavors.</div><div>&nbsp;</div>Good B-level SciFihttp://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/archive/2008/2/21/25450.aspxFri, 22 Feb 2008 03:47:52 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:25450robvs0http://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/comments/25450.aspxhttp://www.spout.com/blogs/robvs/commentrss.aspx?PostID=25450In its day, Runaway was an imaginative and fun, B-level SciFi thriller. It&#39;s been a while since I&#39;ve seen it, so I don&#39;t know how well it holds up. But if you&#39;re a true sci-fi&nbsp;aficionado or a Gene Simmons/Kiss fan (he plays a great bad guy), you really should check it out.
