I was in New York with my my girlfriend, my sister and her husband, and my cousin and his fiance. My brother-in-law is the editor of Paste Magazine who was sponsoring a film festival in New York and got us all free tickets. I am the kind of narrow minded person who does not like things that are not the "norm" and only went because it was free.
The movie played was "The Signal", and it opened my eyes.
I love movies, but have always just watched what Hollywood told me to watch and chose not to give indy films a chance, but when I saw this film, everything changed. The 3 directors and geniuses behind the film, as well as the actors, spoke after the film finished and it made the entire experience even better. I still do not understand how this movie was not a summer blockbuster. If it could entertain someone like me, who saw Rocky Balboa and Live Free of Die Hard just because, then it will entertain the rest of them.
I will continue to expand my movie experiences and have chosen not to be so closed minded as I do not want to miss out on any movies like this one.
