Who Killed the Electric Car?
One of the better known of a deluge of socially minded documentaries from the last several years. There are a lot of films that point towards a specific instance of where something has gone wrong or is going wrong usually at the hands of some corrupt and selfish social institution. This film however is blatant about going down the checklist of who actually was to blame for what went wrong. What went wrong in this case was the complete halt and shut down of production of electric cars for reasons that seem confusing when it seems like they would have been beneficial to almost everyone involved if they had allowed to continue and invest in production.
It's a good film and speaks for itself so any review here would be nothing more than a synopsis of what the movie already does a fairly good job of depicting.
If you are interested in who the suspects are for being guilty of killing the electric car, I will list them below:
Consumers
Batteries
Oil companies
Car companies
Government
California Air Resource Board
The hydrogen fuel cell
If you are not very familiar with the whole scenario you may be surprised but who the film finds guilty and who isn't. Then again, maybe you won't be. Either way these issues are usually more complicated than originally presented. I can tell you most people who have seen this movie say that it makes them quite mad though. So if you are feeling a little too happy lately, or maybe just ambivalent, and you would like to feel more of an anger type emotion, try this movie out. Honestly, I wasn't that incited or surprised, but maybe it was because I'd heard about the movie so much before I finally saw it.
