My girlfriend rented this, and I thought it would be pretty interesting too, but the approach and execution was so disappointing!
First of all, there is really no actual live footage of any of the events that occurred that I can remember. It was pretty much all recreations, although not really recreations of anything explicit. Or it was just irrelevant inserts that played over voices telling the story. The cinematography on the footage was all fantastic! It's too bad none of it was for anything relevant or interesting.
The movie starts out promising enough with hearing about different people who got sucked into the world of bestiality. But then the picture turns towards the direction of telling us a specific story about a specific guy who bled to death after having sex with a horse. This is what the story is about yet, no one ever actually says anything about it if you know what I mean. I mean the only reason I really knew exactly what happened was from reading the synopsis of the movie on the Netflix case or wherever I read it. Everyone talking about the incident completely dances around any specifics. They tell you boring, irrelevant information surrounding the event, but nothing about the event itself. When you rent a documentary about a guy who died while fucking a horse, you want to hear specifics. I don't know if the filmmakers thought that by not mentioning anything specifically that they were somehow making it more powerful because it was in our imagination??? Or maybe they thought the specifics were too graphic and no one would want to hear them....? But who would rent this movie without knowing what it was about? And if you know what it's about, then you want to hear about it.
Boring and disappointing. Did you ever think that could describe a documentary about bestiality?
