I Quattro dell'Ave Maria (Ace High)
This was another one of the DVDs that was lent to me by that guy I met last summer. (Hey Alex, if you are out there, I've tried to call you back to return your movies!) I was surprised I liked this one as much even though he advertised it as being only mediocre for a spaghetti western.
Here we get spaghetti western staples Terence Hill and Bud Spencer teamed up with spaghetti western icon Eli Wallach thrown in as well. And later Brock Peters joins up with the gang as well. If you like these fellows' other work, I think you will like this too.
I can't say there's too much new here. The filmmakers were probably imitating what worked on many other spaghetti western productions, but they pull a lot of my favorite elements including just the general architecture and ambiance of these locations. There seems to be mixed feelings in the spaghetti western fan community about this one, but maybe I still haven't seen enough of these movies to be too critical.
I just found out that this movie is actually supposedly the second part of a trilogy which starts with God Forgives... I Don't! and ends with Boot Hill. Any fans of these movies have any comments?
I liked it!
