In Cold Blood
Before I saw this movie I was hoping to read the book, unfortunately it came up on my queue before I got there. Well I say unfortunately, but I guess I'm not sure if it would have affected me for the better. I'm actually not sure if I want to read the book now since I know what happens, although that might be a shame since I hear Truman Capote is a distinct writer. I can see how the story would make a great book, especially since I guess it kind of blurs the lines of a true story and some dramatization
So I can't say too much about the origins of the story or the book. Sorry, this blog entry is kind of useless in that regard. But the film is amazing for painting very realistic characters (they are of coursed based on real people). I may be wrong but it seems almost particularly successful at this for the time it was released.
I found the movie caused me to really feel for some characters that I didn't think I would possibly be able to at first. Even though I'm not sure I even SHOULD feel for them. The film seems to get at a lot of deep and real aspects of people that are hard to really get at in a lot of films. It's a complex film that will surely stick with you for days afterwards, and isn't that the most a film can really ask for?
