Making 'The New World'
There's no Spout link for this movie. It's a documentary that is included on the DVD for The New World. It's a reminder of the incredible amount of work that is put into some movies that you can hardly even imagine, especially when you have a director and team who are really dedicated to such a huge and somewhat unusual project.
While you do learn many interesting things about the film and some things of historical interest, there's nothing that really makes this making-of documentary stand out. Actually I was hoping (although I had no reason to) that I would finally get to see or hear a bit of Malick talking or at least more than a glimpse of him in action. No such luck. The guy is obviously still as shy and reclusive from appearing personally to the public.
Something else kind of strange, this was directed by Austin Jack Lynch, the son of David Lynch.
