How is it these plot summaries could be so wrong? Kyoji is not a hitman. He is having an affair with his boss's wife. When he is discovered, the boss allows him to save himself by killing her instead. Unless I am missing something pretty major, he's a dupe. A very enjoyable flick in my opinion. Catch it when it finds wider release.

I despise the plot summary here. Just watched this really quite charming movie by the director of Dark City. I'm a sucker for a post apocalyptic yarn and this one touched me in the right places. What the post apocalyptic yarn (Australian ones in particular) gives us is a sense of isolation that makes madness an essential part of survival. Emotion cannot endure such landscapes. Think Road Warrior, sure. Australians know desolation and loneliness. Their post apocalyptic vision is of emptiness. Vast open plains with just nothing heaped on nothing.

The cinematography is great in this one. Shots are beautifully composed. And all on a scrappy, dirty little budget. Nothing is clean and all that suits me just fine. See it if you can find it.
