The original, in all honesty, wasn't a raging success but more a cult hit for certain groups. The update simply wasn't much to look at either; it wasn't tres terrible, but it wasn't a horror classic either. I know this is a sparse, basically useless review, but it reflects fairly accurately what I thought of it and what you're likely to think of it...I think.
