Being a video game enthusiast since Pong it wasn't hard for me to get sucked in to the microcosm of the Donkey Kong competition. But as every subculture this one shows some basic themes of human interaction. And it was very exciting too.  I recommend it to people who liked "American Movie".

  • Disapointing given the potential of the cast

I thought GTP would have had some amibtion to be an entertaining movie given the cast. But as it turns out the didn't use the potential. The lack in the script and of locations were covered by some slow paced scenes. That doesn't really support a the idea of a comedic road movie. And some strange choices ragarding the score made it difficult to connect to the 70ies rock'n'roll vibe. The movie felt so quiet most of the time.

Johnny Knoxville and Robert Foster dispointend (well the dialogues were badly written) - Christina Applegate as the psychotic girlfriend had the most bearable moments.

    1408  (2007)

Before watching 1408 I didn't read any reviews nor know the short story by King. So I was unprepared as I like it to be with mystery stories. It's nice to see a movie in modern horror cinema that takes its time before it unleashes its power. I liked the feeling of watching a modern Twilight Zone episode for the big screen. The second half I didn't like that much as the first. At the surf-accident on the beach I hoped "please don't let them got that 'Carnival of Souls' route'. And they tricked the me - not very subtle - but I was glad they did. Overall I would recommend it for one time seeing. It's well spend money for this well crafted genre movie.
