Hot hot Asian cinema
I'm in the minority. I disliked
Lady Vengeance. I've been patient with a lot of films being lumped in with the rennaissance going on now in Asian cinema, but I found this journal entry from over a year ago summing up my thoughts:
So, I watched this flick called Infernal Affairs last night. Asian cinema is pretty damned hot right now and this is one of the really hot titles in recent years.
All I can say is I think I'm ruined. Really clever premises and flashy action sequences bore the shite out of me now.

After watching - and loving - The Departed, I suddenly have a longing to watch Infernal Affairs. In fact I may even pick up the trilogy at Costco since it's so cheap.
Maybe I'm a bandwagon guy, because I seem to pick up the Asian DVDs that are almost universally enjoyed. Iron Monkey is an exception. Critics didn't love it, but I did.
You know what Asian cinema does for me? Makes me crave old Steven Segal flicks.
