Predator to Prey

Under discussion:

Sharkwater  (2006)

In this 89 minute documentary, Rob Stewart takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that explores the disgusting truth about the shark fin trade. These beautiful animals are ripped from the ocean, and seduced by the curiousity, they become entangled in bated hooks that stretch miles and miles across the oceans. Their fins are sliced off (many while they're still alive), and left to bleed out in the ocean.

This graphic film shows us the truth about sharks, the misconceptions that we all have about these creatures, and how important is it for us to fight to keep them alive. These beautiful animals have been here for hundreds of millions of years; and we, only a few blinks of an eye. Through visuals, commentaries from experts, and Rob's own struggles to fight against the shark finning industry, we are left to face the fact that this slaughter has endangered species, and will eventually pose a threat to us. By un-needed death, we are upsetting a crucial balance in the oceans, and only time will tell how long it will take for us to be overwhelmed by it.
