quirky, but the home movie aesthetic got annoying
I mostly picked this up fo rthe segments that take place in Tokyo. There are some fun elements here in this quirky mashing of personal journey and buddy movie. One of the brothers has his camcorder along and sometimes it appears he is documenting the trip or his hown self-discovery (or a bit of both), but other times you wonder - who is behind the camcorder now? That whole home movie/diary film aesthetic didn't really work for me. What I found most interesting was the exploration of male vulnerability and how it was experienced and worked out differently by these two brothers. Interesting film, but I didn't quite "like" it.
