    Wanted  (2008)

My main man choose this movie for us to watch on a recent Saturday night. I have to say that some parts reminding me of the Matrix, others of Fight Club, and maybe even a bit of The Professional. That said, I wouldn't put this film in the same category as those just mentioned. Even I love watching Angeline Jolie in kick-butt roles like this, the whole film just seemed to lack something. The action was entertaining...although at time unbelievable. The plot had some holes...and there was not a believable chemistry between Jolie and McAvoy. But perhaps if you are a dude and all you want is to watch an action-packed film, this one is right up your alley.

    Groundhog Day  (1993)

Groundhog Day is a classic. I've seen this movie countless times and upon watching it recently, I still found it entertaining. If you've never seen it, you should take some time and rent it. It's just purely fun, fun stuff!

    The Corporation  (2004)

Considering all the economic doom and gloom of current day, it's a bit hard difficult to watch this movie and not feel like everything in this world is going down the toilette. It is an interesting film though. I was a bit depressed afterward...and unsure of how I can help the situation.

  • Cary Grant goodness

    His Girl Friday  (1940)

It was fun to watch a Cary Grant movie. This movie is a fast paced in story and dialog...maybe a bit too fast for me. I was exhausted by the end just trying to keep up with what they were saying. It was a pretty entertaining, although a bit schmaltzy at the end. Perhaps that is too be expected with a Cary Grant movie. To sum it up...it was fairly fun and I'm glad I watched it.

This was a pretty fun movie...although not funny enough to make it on to my all time best romantic comedy list. And I didn't know that you'd end up seeing all of Jason Segal multiple times...not a good decision to not keep the shot above the waist. I certainly did not need to see ALL of him....just kinda made me cringe. But then again...maybe Jason loves to be naked. I don't know. It was distracting....and not in a good way. Perhaps the best part was the Dracula Muppet Musical at the end. Now that was FUN!

    Dreamgirls  (2006)

This movie was just "okay" for me. The story line was mildly interesting, but I always felt like an outsider watching these characters. I was never really super involved in their story and had a hard time relating. That said, I do love Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson was awesome. I probably won't go out of my way to watch it again. But if you're in the mood to half watch a movie, then put it on.

    A Beautiful Mind  (2001)

I really enjoyed this film. It's captivating and intriguing from beginning to end. Russell Crowe does an amazing job in this role and is excellent paired with Jennifer Connelly. If you haven't seem this movie yet, I would highly recommend it.

  • A Christmas Carol

I had not seen this version before and I have to say that it is a good, kinda dark, kinda creepy rendition of the story.  I enjoyed it. It's pretty traditional, put also has lovely 80's touches...like the Ghost of Christmas Past looks to have taken a bit of inspiration from David Bowie. Certainly entertaining. Worth a look if you like the tale of A Christmas Carole. Enjoy.

    Koyaanisqatsi  (1983)

Perhaps it is because this movie was made in the early eighties when images like these would have been a fresh perspective on life, but seeing it today the images and their juxtaposition seemed a bit stereotypical. The think the nature versus man is a theme that has been overdone. The musical score is methodical. I had a seriously hard time staying awake through the whole film, but perhaps in a theater or an IMAX the experience would have been different. All in all, I can't say I'd recommend this one, unless you're having problems sleeping.

  • The Lord of the Rings

I am a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I read the books way back when and the movies go above and beyond in keeping true the characters, the story, and Middle-earth. I don't think that you have to be a huge fantasy film fan to enjoy this series. If you dig a good story then you'll find the time to make it through all three films. Completely worth the watch. Just talking about it makes me want to spend a day doing nothing but watching all three over again.

I know that this movie was not well received by movie critics, but I found the film to be fairly entertaining over all. I think that it was a captive recreation of the book. In fact, I was pleased with how well it kept to the book. However, the book is so entertaining and moves with such speed that I think the movie had a hard time capturing that same combination. It's not as great as the book, but it's a good movie night film.

Although this movie is visually interesting and unique, it left me with such an overall creepy vibe that I really can't say whether I liked it or not. I hate to turn people away if they are looking for a weird and disturbing tale, however I'd definitely not go out of my way to see it again.

    Out of Sight  (1998)

I was a bit disappointed in this movie. Even George Clooney's good looks and clever lines couldn't keep me from losing lost interest half way through. I think that this was doing the string of Jennifer Lopez films and flops like Gigli. Not the best role for her, I think. I wouldn't really recommend this one. It doesn't have enough going for it to be worth a rental.

    The Professional  (1994)

I actually saw this movie first in French while I was living overseas. I thoroughly enjoyed the odd juxtaposition of full on violence mixed with this sweet developing relationship between Leon and Mathilda. There's truly an interesting bond that develops between these two as they both deal with their messed up lives. I've since seen it in English and would highly recommend it to those who like both action and substance in their movies.

  • Jack Black at his best!

    School of Rock  (2003)

Jack Black rocks in this movie. It's really the perfect role for him. He's quirky and funny in this role, highlighting and sharing his love for music with a bunch of students. It's really a fun film that the whole family can sit down and watch. Great stuff...enjoy!
