I loved Wall-e. I mean… it’s a Pixar film! With their series of past successes, it’s hard not to have high expectations for Wall-e and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Wall-e delivers compelling storytelling and beautiful animation. It’s amazing to me how quickly I related to Wall-e, his world, and his emotions towards EVA. The whole concept (not being all that far fetched) of humans literally trashing their planet and having to live elsewhere in space hit home. (Especially, in this era of where we all share a heightened awareness to “go green”.) Little Wall-e is left to clean up our mess. And he does so happily, however, he (like many of us) longs for companionship. That’s where EVA comes in and the story really takes off.
On another note, I left the theater amazed that Pixar mixed live action with animation and that it worked. I’m not sure how, but it wasn’t jarring to see human actors along side of animated characters. That is the brilliance of Pixar. If you’ve not yet seen this film, I’d highly recommend it. It’s a great way to spend a couple hours and to be truly entertained. Enjoy.
