I like Chuck Palahniuk's work. Personally, I think he is possibly the best popular American writer still working. I happen to be heterosexual, as are most of the fans of
this movie based on his book. I don't like any less than I did when I had no idea what it was saying. All of Palahniuk's work has had the theme of homosexuality running through it and even before he came out of the closet in 2005, most of his fans already had an idea as to his sexual preference. Theme of homosexual sex is as strong in Fight Club as it is in the rest of his work. If you re-watch the film with this in mind you can see that fighting is used as a symbol for the act of gay sex for closeted gay men. The relationship between Tyler Durden and the Narrator is both one of gay male and his lover, and the repressed (closeted) gay male and his inner true self.
