Wes Anderson is to Movies as Guinness is to beer

I'm sure this could be said of quite a few good film makers. But I really feel strongly that his films are an aquired taste. I really didn't care for Rushmore until the third time I watched it. The Royal Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic were both much better to me the second time around. Finally, with his latest, The Darjeering Limited, I loved it the first time around. I would have to say this is his best film to date. The colorful images, the camera movement and slow-mo scenes were stunning and the on-screen chemestry between the major players was a joy to watch.

Interesting enough I saw Rushmore first, and I immediately liked it. I didn't see The Royal Tenenbaums until 2004 probably, and I love that as well, of course by this time I was looking for more Wes Anderson stuff and couldn't wait for The Life Aquatic. I think my sense of humor is very much in line with Anderson's and so I immediately begin to enjoy his films from the start. Some people can't stand his stuff though. You vs Mercurial. heh

I had the same experience with these four movies. Don't know if that means I'm getting used to Anderson or that he just got it right with The Darjeeling Limited.
I drink a lot of non-alcoholic beer and Guinness makes one of the best (Kaliber).

Having just come back from the bar (i.e. my favorite Irish pub) I totally agree with your comments about Wes Anderson except the fact that he is like Guinness. Guinness is f***ing disgusting. I've gotten into fist fights for saying this but alas, I think it is vomit and should never ever be drunk by any sane human being. And yes, I am still slightly drunk and this is a relatively pointless post but whatever. Yay for getting acquainted with Wes Anderson movies, Boo for drinking Guinness (yuck, vomit, blech, eww tasting like month old coffee and curdled milk). Heh, sorry again.
