I got a chance to preview the upcoming drama A Good Man is Hard to Find by director Leslie Small. The film is based on the stage play of the same name written by Rev. David Payton. The play was highly successful (grossed 25 million) and ran for seven consecutive years during the early 90’s. The movie was first-rate and should do quite well given the fact that it has a potential audience that is familiar with story given the success of the play.
It is the story of three women facing challenges, crises, and torment in their personal relationships. Each must conquer personal problems, defy temptation, and endure bad choices so they can obtain or keep-- A Good Man.
Golden Brooks (Girlfriend, Something New, Beauty Shop), Darrin Dewitt Henson (Stomp the Yard), Hill Harper (CSI: NY), Melissa De Sousa (One on One), and Deborah Cox (R&B performer) lead the cast in this stirring gospel-shaded drama. The film examines the deterioration of African-American family and the changing role of the modern black woman.
A Good Man is Hard to Find is a movie that is entertaining, yet delivers a wonderful message. The film will appeal to a good cross-section of audiences. It is no wonder the stage play was so successful
