Tomorrow night I will be seeing the movie A Prairie Home Companion

I love listening to this show on the radio (NPR) and after viewing the trailor I was sold. So hopefully it turns out to be better then I am expecting.

    Cheers,

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (3.5 of 5)

Once again Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) captures the audience with his unique abilities to create intriguing characters. The writers should be given a standing ovation for this movie. Two movies in a row with amazing screenwriters is very unusual.

For some reason the movie seemed a little over the top, which is the classic mistake of a sequel from Jerry Bruckheimer studios.

The characters in this movie are all captivating in the sequel. Johnny Depp still carries a major part in captivating the audience, but this time you don't feel like he commanded the screen. Each actor/actress really stepped it up in this movie to deliver great performances.

I don't want to give too much away for those who still have not seen the movie.

So I would recommend this movie for a light comedy/action flick for a hot summer day.

It will definitely make my library once it has released. I'm really looking forward to the third movie with Keith Richards as the father of Jack Sparrow! :o) That should be a hoot.

    Cheers,
    Ben

  • The Devil Wears Prada (4 of 5)

Last weekend I had a chance to catch the movie The Devil Wears Prada.

Meryl Streep is a brilliant actress, but if you have not figured that out by now then good luck with the movie. Her performance was outstanding. She is shrewd, intelligent, direct, and a pure delight to watch on the screen. She gave a classic performance that very few actors/actresses are capable of delivering.

Stanley Tucci stars as a cheeky art director who at times should be dubbed "Fairy Godmother". His quick whit and subtle advice creates a warm character that often steals the screen.

Anne Hathaway is the adorable character that captivates you from the beginning. She has a charming personality, but lacks a few life skills that she eventually learns from being thrown into the snake pit.

The rest of the actors/actresses where more like filler to make the movie happen. Which is why I gave this movie 4 out of 5 stars.

Overall the movie was a classic light comedy worth watching for one of my favorite actresses of all time. In my opinion the only other leading lady who could of pulled off such a wonderful performance would have been Glenn Close.
