I watched A Tree Grows in Brooklyn after reading the book. I enjoyed learning more about that time period in New York and was captivated by the little girls' ambition. However, there were so many details mentioned in the book that while watching the movie it seemed like important information was left out. If I had watched this with someone who hadn't read the book I would feel as though I'd need to explain a lot in order for the other viewer to get the full effect of this captivating story. If you decide to watch this movie, I highly recommend opening the book first.
