  • The Second Season of "The Donna Reed Show" is Simply Fantastic!!!!!

The Incredible Number Two Season of "The Donna Reed Show" is HERE!!! So Call your Relatives and Call your Neighbors because this particular season of an 'Iconic Family Series' is without a doubt, a much "Treasured Gift" for all!

This truly masterful second season of "The Donna Reed Show" continues on with the very popular Stone Family. This show can appear at times, like a continued documentary on a real life family. I say this, because the cast members seem to be so very comfortable with each other that they truly appear to be actually related to one another! This is what drew the audiences to this Classic TV Sitcom in the first place, when it had first aired in the late 1950's. And with its greatly selected Cast, plus this show's Fantastic Storylines in which Actress Donna Reed herself had much influence over, is indeed what actually propelled this series with its Loyal Audiences for Eight Wonderful Seasons, with a vast number of episodes, 275 to be exact!!!

For this second season of "The Donna Reed Show" that had originally aired on The ABC Television Network, the TV time slot had changed from 9 PM to an earlier 8 PM time slot. And the day of the week that it had aired, changed from Wednesday Nights to Thursday Nights. This ABC Series did remain at its 8 PM time slot for 'Seven' more Successful Seasons!!

The cast includes in the starring role, the forever gorgeous & charming Donna Reed! And of course, this Academy Award Winning Actress was a 'Big Plus' in attracting audiences to this show. As was her continuing ability to play in a very convincing manner, her role of the Donna Stone Character, who is a Very Capable, Successful Wife and Mother of two. Seasoned Actress Donna Reed truly makes this Donna Stone Character her very own, as is clearly demonstrated in these number two season episodes from her show! And as a direct result of this, her 'Maternal Role' in this series shines very brightly indeed which had gained her many new ardent fans over the years of this show's run!

Carl Betz continues to play the character of Dr. Alex Stone, a very pleasant looking husband and 'Father Figure' who is also a charmer. And in this series, he has a most distinguished career as a highly dedicated doctor in the field of Pediatrics. This Dr. Stone Character continues to be portrayed excellently & quite convincingly by the very Accomplished Actor Carl Betz! Also, I might add here as a side note, that when Actor Carl Betz's is performing with his Fellow Cast Members in these second season episodes from "The Donna Reed Show," his precise timing and comical effectiveness, are always consistently Brilliant!!!! A trait of a truly Fine Actor!

Shelley Fabares continues with her role in playing the Character of Mary Stone, a very fresh faced, quite attractive, and truly likable Teenage Girl, who is coming of age into her young womanhood with wonderful results! The naturally Talented Actress Shelley Fabares is 'Great' in this role, and continues to give a highly admirable 'Charismatic Performance' in portraying her Mary Stone Character! I would also like to say that throughout this "Donna Reed Show" series, Mary Stone's sarcastic remarks (which had really heated up during the Third and Fourth Seasons) towards her brother Jeff, are truly hilarious because they seem so very real!!! Especially after Mary spews forth with her not so flattering remarks, and then these very disgusted and disdainful expressions take over her face, which are all aimed so mightily towards her brother Jeff!! It is Just Priceless!!! Actress Shelley Fabares has this Brother Sister Act down to a Complete Science!

Paul Petersen also continues on with his role of playing the very Effervescent Mr. Personality Plus, and just Down Right FRESH Jeff Stone Character. He is the youngest family member of the household. This cute Jeff Stone Character continues to add a lot of spice and life to this show, and in these second season episodes, there are no exceptions to this fact... He is a very energetic & animated character that on occasion can appear somewhat bratty, but still lovable to the point of being very outrageous from time to time with his smart aleck remarks, that are actually Quite Funny!!! The very Talented Actor Paul Petersen continues to give the audience a first rate performance, and does an amazingly 'Superb Job' in his portrayal of the Jeff Stone Character!

Every episode of "The Donna Reed Show" is like watching a short Classic Movie since every episode is a Masterpiece in itself! So if your expecting any comparisons of this show to match the Television Shows of Today, FORGET IT!!!!!!! "The Donna Reed Show" was done very professionally with a top grade quality that far outshines the poorly written, produced, and directed TV shows of this present day. Even the Camera Work is much more interesting to observe in this Very Classic Sitcom than it is on today's TV sitcoms. When watching any episode from the second season of this Fantastic Family Series, you will know from the very first scene that your in good hands, which guarantees that the viewer will be taken on a mesmerized journey of pure joy and entertainment!!!

This Wonderful Number Two Season of "The Donna Reed Show" remains incredibly strong with its Great Cast, and Well Written Storylines! And its very lovely and talented star "Donna Reed" with her unique screen presence, adds sheer magic to this extremely Well Crafted TV Series!

So don't you dare miss out on any of these episodes from this Classic TV Show's 'Fun Filled Second Season' which is a masterful continuation of a Very Classic Sitcom!

Note: There are a Whopping 38 Episodes from this Number Two Season of "The Donna Reed Show." All of the episodes are complete and uncut as they were originally broadcast during the 1959/1960 Season of this truly Great Show!!! - What a Treat!!!!

  • West Side Story: The Classic That Never Grows Old:

    West Side Story  (1961)

Loosely based on Shakespeare's play, Romeo & Juliet and set  on the finger-snapping, pulsating West Side of 1960's New York City, West Side Story  is a beautiful golden oldie-but-goody movie/musical classic that combines a neat story of urban gang warfare, racial/ethnic tensions, juvenile delinquency and conflict with the law, the breaching of taboos as love between two sides developes amid hatred and conflict, with richly colored costumes, photography and cinematography, talented actors/actresses (except Richard Beymer as Tony),  beautifully choreographed dancing by Jerome Robbins, and a brilliant musical score by Leonard Bernstein.  It is a wonderful example of how various emotions can be expressed through dance, not have too much gore or sex scenes that're too explicit and steamy.  Moreover, West Side Story, unlike many, if  not most other movies about gang warfare, etc, that seem to kind of glorify gang violence and prejudice, West Side Story delivers a different message:  How deadly gang violence and prejudice often have dire, destructive consequences, as is indicated by the destruction of Tony and Maria's romance, after both gangleaders Riff and Bernardo go down for the final count in the ensuing rumble, and so does Tony, in the end.  Yet, there's a ray of hope, too, at the end of the long, dark tunnel:   When several Jets and Sharks come together to carry Tony's body off, in at least a momentary understanding in tragedy.

West Side Story is a great movie to see in a real movie theatre, with the lights down low, on a great big, wide movie screen.  Played on a great big movie theatre screen,  West Side Story seems to take on a magical, almost  3-dimensional quality to it.  The brilliant Bernstein musical score, along with the richly-colored costumes and photography, the beautifully-choreographed dancing all seem much more brilliant and intense  The various characters, from the warring Jets and Sharks, to the bigoted, cynical Krupke and Schrank, to the romancing Tony and Maria, as well as Bernardo and his girlfriend, Anita, all seem to move much more fluidly and in a much larger, much more open space.  To those who've never seen West Side Story, or have only seen it on television, the next time it comes to a movie theatre in your area, I say--jump at the chance.  It's an enriching experience that you'll never forget.   The MGM phrase "Unlike other classics, West Side Story grows younger", imho, carries a strong, strong element of truth to it.

  • A woman's love is a priceless enlightenment, undeniably superior over the other kind of love.

    Desert Hearts  (1985)

A woman's love is a priceless enlightenment, undeniably superior over the other kind of love,  for its endurance, strength and wisdom.  Sadly, most of films portray that the loving relationship between women ends up in sorrowful tragedy, often death by suicide or judicial imprisonment or even execution. I strongly believe that it is really unfair to label the attraction between women such as forbidden love affair.  What is really the harm they can cause to man kind? Practically none to be known of throughout human history. Men continue to jeopardise women's freedom of love for men's own ego problems that they want to own women.  I foresee that the end of human civilisation comes sooner if we do not correct our attitude. In fact, there have been more women on the earth than men.  Women should have had slightly larger ownership of this planet. There are 103 women for every 100 men.  We must  give those extra 3 women freedom of choice, space and compassion for their choice of companionship. If they want to chose another woman. Let them pursue their freedom to do so. It was such a great relief for me that there were no cruelty such as intimidation or violence implied upon Cay and Vivian and that the film ended with some hope that they can meet again in the future. Cay's free spirited persona honestly played by Patricia Charbonneau was awesome and refreshing. All these makes the film quite appealing and worthy of praise. Every female child has dreams of being swept up into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Lamentably, when women grow up, they are often swept up into a life filled merely with demands, duty and responsibility. Many women are tired, struggling under the merciless pressure to be of a faithful servant, or a caregiver for children, husband or father and like. I admire Cay and Vivian for their courage to follow their heartsand not to be influenced by merciless pressure from conservative society.  Pinecloud,  a straight male, Palo Alto, California, USA

I'm not going to take a big crap on this movie much like the other reviewers have. Why? because I knew this was a B-rated, low budget 80s science fiction film. Of course it's going to be a bit cheezy with bad acting. It all depends on who you are. Me, I like corny low budget films and I enjoyed every minute of this movie. I believe with better actors, writers and a much higher budget this movei could have been alot better. What kept me watching was Lorca's little droip friend Grid played by Deep Roy. I don't know why really but I found the little droid a bit creepy. the movie had a really cool concept and could have been alot better. But hey if you're like me just pop in the tape, kick off your shoes and just enjoy the flick.I do warn you though if you're one of those picky critical assholes that only pays attention to the plot and nit picks every little detail you will not like this movie.

it was worth my time. I give it a B!

    Not for kids.

Maybe two years ago, when I read the book, I was riveted by it.  Germans were living in horrendous circumstances thanks to the acts of a madman and now they would have to pay an enormous price due to the orders of another madman.  It was a harrowing book, and if the director is as good as in his previous movie about Berling during the war, this must be one of those films that stay in your memory for a long, long time.
