i just saw this movie, like two days ago, for the first time since it came out on video. that was almost ten years ago. i was only 12. and back then i thought it was a good film, but actually now that i see it again i think it is by far one of Jake Gyllenhaal's best films. i fell in love with this movie all over again. it reminded me of my younger years and all the weird things i tried to do after school. it's an inspiration to me sort of like it was with Billy Elliot. this is a feel good movie. it will leave you feeling good. it is not excelent in all of it's elements but it still works.
i read the book and usually after reading the book i hate the movie; not with October Sky. this film truelly captures the imagination that one day those four boys of Coalwood had.
