Cheesy 70's Low Budget Sci-Fi Adventure
There's this new show on The Cartoon Network, I can't recall the name at the moment, but it's a great piece of comedy that pokes fun at the late 70's, early 80's attempts at a TV hospital drama. I'd love to see what they do to this film, but there really is no need, as this film is as campy as they come. It's truly everything you read about from this era - guys in puffy latex dinosaur costumes, terrible lighting, wooden acting, etc. Peter Cushing must've known he was making a stinker, as he seems to be hamming it up for all it's worth, and ultimately becomes one of the most entertaining things about this film. I can't help but think of Phil Hartman (R.I.P. dear sir) when I hear the name Doug McClure, who made me laugh throughout this film merely because of the Simpson reference. This is one of those "so bad, they're good" films, but generally, I do not care for these films, thus the "lost interest" rating. But YOU may like it...
