Even though I love Christina Ricci and see/own every feature film she's been in...I can't say that this is one of her better ones, although she looks very pretty in this film. Whatever magic Wes Craven & Kevin Williamson cooked up in the "Scream" series falls flat here. I didn't feel any "chemistry" between the leads, and I actually found Jesse Eisenberg's performance to be annoyingly "average". Oh well, just not my cup of tea.

...this movie is damn funny. But the humor is obviously a question of taste, as you either totally love this film or really, really hate it. I, for one, like pretty much anything Danny DeVito directs, and this is no exception. If you like your comedies dry and dark, this is the film for you. If not, don't bother because you will absolutely hate this film.

The key word here is: DRY. If you weren't aware this was supposed to be funny, you might think this is the dumbest fishing show ever put to film. From the tongue-in-cheek theme song to the disconnected narration, everything about this series screams "GENIUS". Try and see this, if you can. The Criterion Collection as all of the episodes on one disc, and sadly, there are only a handful of them. But on the DVD commentary track, John Lurie hints to possibly doing more episodes in the future... but I wouldn't count on it. A loss for all of us, in my opinion.
