    Medicine Man  (1992)

I remember thinking that Sean Connery was really, really cool back in 1992. A few years previous, I'd managed to watch all of the Bond films in chronological order, and I remember thinking that I liked Connery's Bond the best. Now, here he is, in full "Highlander" mode, with his long hair (much like mine at the time) and grey beard (not quite yet), finding the cure for cancer in the Amazon rain forrest. I was totally enamored as a young teen, and I thought this film was the bee's knees, and I became somewhat of an environmentalist because of this film. See? Who says movies are damaging to today's youth? For every "Jackass" or "Josie and the Pussycats", there's a film like this - decent writing, decent acting, decent message, etc. I'll admit, Lorraine Bracco's constant whining gets on my nerves at times, but it all comes together towards the end. Good stuff, this.
