The Business of Strangers
(2001)
Here's the paradox: if the first half of the film hadn't been so good, I might not question the second half so much. The acting is fantastic (which, for Julia Stiles, is a miracle, since at this point she hadn't really proved herself) and the detail into these people's lives is incredible. But then we get into a bit of a plot cliche, and it starts to take on water fast. Not so much that it sinks completely, but enough to make me feel happy when the credits roll.
