Little Red Riding Hood (1997)

This was damned funny! Christina Ricci looks as cute as she's ever been, the cinematography is very German Expressionistic, and the narrator is a hoot! I loved it...wish it was available on DVD, though...

Meatballs (2007)

I can't say I really like this movie all that much - I'd never been to summer camp, so I can't relate. But I don't hate it, either...at times it's funny (mostly thanks to Bill Murray). An interesting side note: Kristen DeBell (the cutest of the girl campers) went on a couple of years later to star in an X-rated version of Alice In Wonderland. Needless to say, she hasn't done much else lately...

The American Astronaut (2001)

This is one of those rare movies that come along that you enjoy, but don't know why. It defies categorization. It's funny. It's dark. It's an ultra-low-budget space pirate film with an absolutely fantastic song-and-dance scene in a men's bathroom. If, by some odd chance of fate, you see this at the video store, do yourself a favor and watch this. It's really good.

Can't Hate On It (Too Much)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

Yes, this is the worst of the lot - but I can't hate it - it's Harry Potter. I really hope they do a "Extended Version" because, as it has been stated, this is the longest of the books...and the shortest of the movies. Unfair, because my expectations were very high with this one. The cast is older, the story more involved and with the release of the final book shortly after this premiered, Potter mania was at an all-time high. Sad to say, this is the most watered-down and least magical of them all. Well, I hope the Half-Blood Prince makes up for this one...

Getting Darker

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

Even though this one skimps out on a lot of the fine details found in the book, it doesn't do a terrible job of adapting into the film it finally became. Every time I watch this one, I like it a little more. This is the spot (in the books, at least) that, for me, seems like everything is coming together for a very exciting ending to the series. I couldn't wait to see Order of the Phoenix (even if the film didn't live up to expectations).
