Along with 'The Exorcist' this must be considered Friedkin's best. Also, kudos to William Petersen (who also starred in Michael Mann's 'Manhunter') as giving one of his best performances ever (I'm talkin' 'bout you CSI). Great cat and mouse between Petersen and Dafoe. Even 'Mad About You' co-star Pankow is good in this. Great car chase sequence on the L.A. Freeway, going the wrong way! Turturro plays a real mean piece of work in this one. I have the DVD and watch it at least once a year. Highly recommended
