    Wonderwall  (1969)

Odd little bit of psychedelia from the 60s about a cloistered scientist who becomes obsessed with peeping at his mod female neighbor through holes in the shared wall of their apartments. Jack MacGowran is somewhat funny in an over-the-top way, and Jane Birkin makes some fine eye candy and manages to add a small dose of reality to this fantasy with little or no dialogue. Soundtrack by George Harrison is more annoying than enjoyable. While there is a smattering of dialog here and there, the film could almost work as a modern day silent picture, and frequently has the feel of a Chaplin short (if he'd have been making films in Swinging London of the 60s). Lots of hilarious costumes and bizarre dream sequences.

Probably helps to be on drugs to enjoy it fully.

    School of Rock  (2003)

    Rock School  (2005)

Saw this one early last year. Was curious to see the 'actual teacher' behind the well known Jack Black comedy "School of Rock". Much more interesting. The teacher comes across as a mix of humanitarian big brother and megalomaniac frustrated washed out rock star. But the kids are the real stars of this show: from the two little 8 year olds and their performance of 'Iron Man' , which will have you rolling on the floor, to the depressive dropout who adds a dose of sad reality to the 'rock school pie-in-the-sky fantasy' who will likely have you in tears, and then to cap it all off, a triumphant concert in Germany at a 'Zappa festival' where the stars of the graduating class rub shoulders with their heroes. Inspiring, but without the hollywood schmaltz of the feature.
