Roman Polanski is one of the most controversial film makers of history, and not surprisingly because of that all of his films deal with very controversial subjects this one is no exception. Johnny Depp is Dean Corso a rare book dealer that comes across a work supposedly penned by Lucifer himself, he gets hired by the books owner to assure the authenticity of the work and it leads him on the mystery of a lifetime. Polanski's style is evident throughout the piece all of the camera angles are perfectly placed and the ambience and mood of the film are all superb. Johnny Depp is in fine form and is the only star in the film. This isn't exactly a horror film but the suspense and tension are evident throughout. All in all I was truly entertained and enamored with this film.
