With masterful direction, Ridley Scott takes us into the discovery of the "perfect" organism, one that destroys with no remorse. Some memorable performances here, particularly by Sigourney Weaver and Ian Holm. The first visually captured birth of an alien is nestled permanently in my memory. A classic film amongst lesser gore-fests.
