This was a real surprise! It’s an adventure movie that is inspired at least a little bit by Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone, but it also has these truly strange tangents that keep it from being a simple cash-in style project! Conrad Nichols stars as a professor and Kelly London is his sexy and put-upon partner. They head off into the jungles to find an ancient city that dates back even further than any recorded Incan civilization. Also, the founders of the pre-Incan empire may have been travelers from another world! That explains the laser beam eyes on those statues! Insanity! The best thing about all of this is that it’s a lot more fun than it sounds! It has energy, it’s exciting, it’s ambitious, and there are some impressive set pieces throughout! As an example, it would make an excellent double feature with something like Jim Wynorski’s 1983 The Lost Empire; it just has that kind of spirit! The soundtrack was even provided by Walter Rizatti (credited as Walt Ritz)!
