    Il Consigliori  (1973)

In this absolutely fantastic Italian Crime film Milian plays a ‘Family’ lawyer that was accused of dirty dealings and sent away to prison. Two years have since passed and it’s time for him to become a free man once again. Even though he is the Godson of a powerful Mafioso, the desire for a different, quieter life is overwhelming. Balsam is his Godfather, and though he would have killed anybody else for trying to break away, he looks on Milian as his own son. This causes many problems as a war breaks out within the families. Rabal plays an ambitious and embittered man whose thirst for power blinds him; he no longer cares what is right, he just wants to run things… at any cost! When the ensuing attempts to murder Milian and Balsam instead claim the life of an innocent little girl Milian makes the decision to come back as consigliore and fight alongside those whom he feels he has caused so much trouble for. From then on, through San Francisco and onward to Sicily, the streets will run red with the blood of all those who desired to end the reign of the Don of San Francisco! Riz Ortolani’s mesmerizing music and the always eye-catching cinematography of Aristide Massaccessi (Joe D’Amato) help make this one of the finest Italian Mafia/crime/action movies around! There is plenty of emotional intensity, exciting action, and even bloody violence throughout this highly recommend and seldom seen masterpiece of the genre!  Make sure and seek out the uncut and widescreen print!

  • BLAZING MAGNUM - Excellent Police Thriller Giallo!

    Blazing Magnum  (1976)

Phenomenal crime/action/giallo that tells the story of Tony Saitta, a tough cop trying to track down the person responsible for his sister’s murder. As the investigation progresses, Saitta realizes that there are many things he never knew about his sister and her lifestyle. The killer is willing to go to whatever lengths are necessary to prevent Saitta from finding the answers he seeks. Very rare and highly recommended, this violent and fast-paced story has a little something for everybody. You’ll also be treated to a fantastic car chase!.So many stunts and so much destruction… it’s breathtaking! And if that isn’t enough, watch what happens when Saitta must fight a group of razor-wielding cross-dressers in a penthouse high above the city streets! All this and a fine soundtrack by Armando Trovajoli besides! Make sure and seek out the uncut, widescreen version!

    The Chosen  (1978)

Superb supernatural thriller that pits Kirk Douglas against evil forces conspiring to bring about the apocalypse. Douglas is Robert Caine, a powerful man who is close to his dream of building a thermonuclear power plant in the Middle East. There are many vehemently opposed to this plan because of the risk of placing the ‘heat of the sun’ in a man-made container on Earth. As it turns out, Caine has been a pawn in a dark game intended to shift the balance of power and bring about the holocaust in order to destroy all of mankind. Angel, Caine’s son, is actually the antichrist and will make sure that nobody interferes with the building of the plant. These acts of prevention lead to some severe and memorable gory set pieces in the UNCUT version; you won’t want to miss that helicopter blade to the head scene! The unrelentingly beautiful Ms. Belli portrays Caine’s love interest after the violent death of his wife, but is that all she is? Rain of Fire is an accomplished and sorely neglected movie featuring a tense score from Ennio Morricone and smaller performances from the likes of Adolfo Celli and others. Alberto De Martino demonstrates his tremendous talents yet again.

    Miami Golem  (1985)

This is a very underrated movie that is part science fiction horror and part paranoid action thriller. Warbeck is a reporter who has been jaded by the hopelessness and pain he has seen so he tends to take the quieter interview oriented jobs now. His latest assignment is to talk to a doctor who has used matter collected from a meteor to create a new form of life! It’s just a cell, but it’s alive and they hope to gather invaluable information from it. A man named Anderson steals the cell and expedites its growth with the help of his own doctors; he recognizes the potential force of the resultant being and his desire is to control the entire planet! Warbeck is summoned by inter-dimensional extraterrestrials that want him to destroy the monster before it gains enough power to destroy worlds! There are others who have been recruited, including a woman with psychic abilities of her own. Great stuff from De Martino complete with nudity and gore, not to mention the cool special effects from Sergio Stivaletti! Released in the United States with editing mistakes and repeated scenes (!?), Digital Conquest's properly put together version is the only one to see!

  • FORMULA FOR A MURDER

    Seven Hyden Park  (1985)

Joanna is a wealthy woman who has overcome many obstacles in her life. When she was 11 years old a man dressed like a priest raped her and threw her down a flight of cement stairs. As an adult she is confined to a wheelchair because of the incident. She contributes to local hospitals and charities so that people in similar conditions will have programs to help them realize their potential. Also, she has fallen in love with one of the fitness instructors that teaches fencing and archery through the programs she funded. All good times, except for one thing… Visions of a dark figure dressed as a priest and carrying a blood-soaked doll have begun to haunt Joanna! Not even fully understanding her own terror after having repressed the memory, she seeks help from her lover (and eventually husband) Craig. The trouble there is that Craig is the one dressing up as a priest and instigating the horrible visions. All of this is just the beginning! An excellent giallo featuring absolutely brutal murders and great performances from the entire cast. The last twenty minutes is a grueling thrill-ride of suspense, terror and violence. A fantastic way to wind up an outstanding movie that starts over the top and never looks back. Francesco De Masi provided the score, some of which has been recycled from New York Ripper! Make sure and see FORMULA FOR A MURDER Uncut and Letterboxed!

  • POLIZIOTTO SENZA PAURA aka FEARLESS FUZZ

Excellent Italian crime from director Stelvio Massi featuring an opening introduction that can help remind you why you fell in love with these things in the first place! Merli is ‘The Fox’, a down and out private detective (and ex-cop) who seems to always live with just a little more trouble than he can handle. While in Vienna, ‘The Fox’ is moved by the pleas of a distraught Italian woman claiming her daughter’s death was not the accident public authorities would like everyone to believe it is. As you might suspect, Merli’s character finds much more than he bargained for but meets the challenges the way only he can! With tightened fist and loaded gun! This is a wild and unpredictable hybrid of a movie that encompasses two very different moods. At first, beyond the stylish and violent slow-motion opening, the tone is light and there are several comedic situations, all of which are very amusing. After the mystery begins to unfold, though, things take a much more serious turn. The subject matter becomes darker as the movie plays on… kidnapping, blackmail/extortion, under aged schoolgirl prostitution (forced), and before long these events lead to violent murder. Stelvio Cipriani comes through in his ever-impressive musical way with yet another outstanding and atmospheric soundtrack. Massi’s direction comes across as very assured and clear of purpose throughout. Nice cinematography courtesy of Riccardo Pallottini ties everything together in just the right way. Neglected for reasons we can’t begin to fathom around here! Make sure and see it uncut and widescreen!
