When it comes to taste in movies, "Armageddon" is my personal litmus test. If you loved it, we have nothing to say to each other. If you thought it was an empty husk of a movie, with a thin veneer of entertainment on top and nothing substantial underneath, let's talk.
There are people out there who love this movie, and I don't understand why. Am I missing something? Or are those people just stupid? I don't want to sound like an elitist, but I suspect I have better taste than those people. I like to think I can tell the difference between quality and crap. I should probably give a fuller explanation why I think "Armageddon" is such a bad movie, but I just don't feel like it. Either you get it or you don't.
