I had the pleasure of seeing the theatre version of the delightful story and then decided to look at this one, tho it's all 5 hours long. I have always enjoyed the book. It's one of the great pieces of English Literature. This version is by FAR the best i've seen, bar none. The characters are delighful--as they are in the book. The dialog comes straight from the book, which makes it all the more enjoyable. The music is terrific and authentic-sounding (tho not originally of the period). Firth's rendition of Mr. Darcy is fantasticly brooding. Mrs. Bennet is wonderful. She grates on every nerve just like in the book. (You can hardly help yelling, "Woman, can you just SHUT UP for once!!!") Lizzie is true to the book. What more can I say. Just a terrific time spent!
