Here is a list of reasons why I hated this movie:
* Val Kilmar sucks as Batman.
* "Garish" is the word I use to describe the look of the film, like a lame-ass laser light show.
* The movie is so overblown and over the top it's hard to belevie that they expected anyone to take it seriously.
* We get a bunch of character development scenes that are so cliche they seem to be taken almost word for word for other movies. At no time during these scenes do we either care about the chracters, or what they are feeling or what happens to them.
* There is zero suspense in the entire film.
* The music, like everything else in the film, telegraphs every point so that stupidest person or youngest kid in the audince gets not only what's going on, but how they are supposed to feel about it.
* The jokes are incredibly annoying, such as those told by "Dr. Chase Meridian." "Dr. Meridian" is a psycychologist so all she does is make metaphors to psychological theories. Is that funny? No.
* The movie has a character in it named "Dr. Chase Meridian".
* Tommy Lee Jones, is given little to do except scream when he excells at being a smartass.
* The whole movie is the absolute apotheosis of all that was wrong with overblown mid-90's pop culture. You can file it on your shelf with your collection of Boyz to Men albums and that treasured copy of HIStory: Past Present and Future.
Thing I liked about the movie:
* Drew Barrymore in lingerie.
