I always watch "The Andromeda Strain" when it's on t.v..( must have seen it about five times)..I love the split screen stuff..the display graphics of the underground bunker ..the way the main scientist guy leads his team dispassionately through the progressive levels of decontamination..the "sexy voice" of the computer,the methodical,and seemingly scientifically accurate way they work out what they are dealing with...The microscopic diagnostic stuff builds tension incredibly...juxtaposed with the "knuckle headed " chiefs of staff,on the line to the President ..the climactic "self destruct" sequence is seminal...Gotta love those lazers!
