Arlington Road (1999)

Along with "The Seige",with Denzel Washington and Annette Bening giving us a precient insight into the "War on Terror" ,i think of this as another very PRE 9/11 film. This gives us plausable explainations for the "lone madman" terrorist theory,from Oswald to McViegh...via references to "Waco" and "Ruby Ridge"..i bet it's one of "Loose Change" Dylan Avery's favourites...Personally i love it, for it's brilliant construction and playing by Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins..From the opening sequence of the injured child..to the astonishing ending...

Why remake perfection

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974)

Why remake this? It's a total classic...It's been on T.V. many times,showed conclusively that Walter Matthau had a broader range than just comedy,although he does bring levity to the piece. Tarantino ripped-off the colours as names thing, Robert Shaw is trulling chilling as the ruthless Mr Blue,next to Jaws it's one of his most memorable roles.This is dark,and humorous in varying doses and i really dont see how it could be improved upon. The last thing we need,for instance is an "up-dating" to include the whole "War on Terror",post 9/11 Scenario... Don't go to see it..get this on DVD,it's probably in the bargain bin!

Stiller's best?

Zoolander (2001)

This has got everything!..A laugh a minute,some right-on politics,most of the Stiller family working in perfect harmony,Will Ferrell getting to be really funny,even David Bowie knows his place, in an hilarious cameo ,the super-cool Justin Theroux is unrecognisable,Milla Jovovich is hot ,and nuts in equal measure...After a few viewings this could start to rival "This is Spinal Tap" for quotability ..."..so hot right now"..."eugooglogy"..."there it is ...Magnum!"..."ok this is no slashy"..One way this could be a "slashy" is that "Dodgeball" could rate as joint best Stiller film..
