"Pure Dream" television.. brilliant and brave, a subversive piece of T.V art...expertly carved -out over two seasons,"Life On Mars" was and is everything that makes the BBC still great, and worth every penny of the T.V. license fee..
A U.S version has long been talked about.Should be good.
The thing is,why bother? We lap up the H.B.O. content without question, why does something this good have to be "re-made" for the American market?...nevermind "shoulder to shoulder" we are often "joined at the hip" culturally.
The main character appears to ,ultimately confirm what many of us would affirm, that dreams are often preferable to reality..and then ,of course, this is a T.V character, inhabiting a fiction... His and our guide is the" test card "girl!... "He's in the best selling show"....ANYTHING is possible...overall this left me feeling , by turns ,uplifted, contemplative and melancholy...
